– Trying to find family!
Hello, My name is Hazel
Clark. I am an African American 23-year-old female writing various
Jamaican sources trying to find information on my family. I would
sincerely appreciate it if I received your help.
I
have been desperately trying to find my fraternal family in the
St. Mary, Annotto Bay area. My father was born and raised in
Annotto Bay in the 1930's and came to the United States in the
1970's. In the year of 1982, he had two daughters,
Angela and Hazel (myself). We are 9 months apart. Well, we lived
in New York and my father raised my sister and I after my mother
died of AIDS when I was eight. He has single handedly raise his
two daughters and allowed us to go to college and graduate from
private well known colleges. In 2004, my father died suddenly of
an aneurysm.
He wanted my sister and I to
bring his ashes back to Jamaica and scatter them on the earth. I
recently visited Jamaica (while on a cruise
vacation) and was able to complete his wish on a
private location in Ocho Rios. I have been desperately trying to
find any family member on my fraternal side but has come up empty
handed and am trying to reach many sources for help. My father's
parents names were: Gilbert and Dina (Buchanan) Powell, he also
had four sisters: Vadney, Adessa, May and Delsi Edwards and a
brother Lester Powell. Please if you have any resources that could
help me, I would sincerely appreciate it. Thank you and God Bless.

| The Shot at Dawn Pardons
Campaign
The SAD Pardons Campaign
announce they have made a direct appeal to Her Majesty Queen
Elizabeth for access to the Royal Archives at Windsor Castle. Within the Royal Archives are documents that reveal, for the
first time, details of a number of superior army officers who were
pardoned for serious military offences by King George V during the
Great War.
In contrast, not one of the
306 British and Commonwealth soldiers who were shot at dawn for
military offences were even told they could make a plea for
clemency to the sovereign. Many of the offences were trivial and
in most cases accused soldiers did not have the benefit of a
'friend' when tried and medical conditions and personal
circumstances were ignored. At least four boys were executed by
firing squad.
In a recent parliamentary
debate on this subject it was claimed that no new evidence has
come to light since it was last debated several years ago. The
implication is that further discussion is pointless.
In our opinion, the full story has not yet been told and it
is in the public interest that it should. This important new
evidence casts a different light on the current debate.
The Scottish Parliament
support our campaign and currently the Irish Government are in
detailed discussions with the Ministry of Defense. They want
retrospective pardons for all the executed soldiers.
They have drawn up a comprehensive top-level study of the
Irish executions that were disproportionately shot. It makes
chilling reading. A further debate will take place shortly in
Dublin. The New
Zealand Government approved legislation that has pardoned their
five soldiers and grateful surviving families have been given the
honour of receiving their medals.
After a 14-year battle with
the authorities Gertrude Harris, 92, the daughter of former
Private Harry Farr, is making an application for a pardon to the
High Court in London. Farr was clearly shell shocked, but after a
20 minute Courts Martial, he was shot. Mr. Justice Burnton has
already intimated a conditional pardon is possible and he agrees
not all the soldiers should have been shot. The hearing is
adjourned until 27 March 2006.
Andrew Mackinlay MP, who
leads our campaign in the Commons, is prepared with a Bill that
will at last lay to rest the pain and anguish that is still felt
throughout Britain and the former Commonwealth, including the
peoples of Southern and Northern Ireland.
It is our solemn duty to
help free these poor souls from the somber shackles of shame.
Please visit our website for
further information and insight into the tragedy of World War I
executions. It is updated as events unfold. Contacts are available
for any media enquiries.

| Values?
Gov.
Mike Rounds said he is inclined to sign a bill that would ban
nearly all abortions in South Dakota, making it a crime for
doctors to perform an abortion unless it was necessary to save the
woman's life. As Christians, abortion is bad. And we don't believe
in gay
marriages or in destroying embryos, for that matter.
On
the other hand, looking at Bush's actions abroad, he's sent troops
to invade Iraq, killing many innocent Iraqis. He's called Ariel
Sharon a man of peace. He's letting the Israelis assassinate the
Palestinians and kill their children, steal their land, and
bulldoze their houses, often with American weapons and equipment.
In
this he reflects many other Americans, those who say they know Him
or who do know Him, but whose works proclaim the opposite. They
are opposed to abortion, to the shedding of innocent blood, but
they hide their eyes or turn aside when American soldiers shed the
blood of innocents abroad. They delude themselves with the notion
that they are waging a righteous war for a righteous cause, led by
a righteous leader, ignoring the reality of their unrighteous
slaughter and destruction, which disgusts and appalls many in the
world.

| If
prayers worked
If prayers worked, Mr. Seaga would be dead long ago, Mr.
Michael Manley and possibly his father would still be alive,
Jamaica would have been prosperous. Our anthem is a prayer
asking god for blessings etc,. If prayers worked, Mutty
Perkins would have being dumb, but then again there would be
nothing for him to say, since Jamaica would have being doing well
and prosperous. If prayers worked there would be no murder, nor
other crimes. If prayers worked no church would ask a sinner for
contribution to its causes. On the contrary the church (the
blessed ones?) would be at all times giving to sinners
instead. If prayers worked, there would be no more AIDS or aids
necessary, and there would be no hurricanes, droughts or floods
in Jamaica. In other words, if prayers worked, the church would
pray for all sinners to become Christians, and it would have
happened if prayers worked.
Paradoxically, Christians believe it MUST get worst
before 'god' comes, and I suppose any good leader who stops
Jamaica from further anarchy would slow Armageddon and be an
impediment to our early entry into heaven.
In the UK most
churches are fill with us blacks both from the West Indies,
especially Jamaica, and Africa. Other nations are trying
to make their heaven on earth. They are trying to improve and
extent their quality of life while on earth. Its because
these people are trying to improve their life here on earth why
they tend to be more successful on earth, unlike us. Such a pity.
Lets us stop staring in
the sun, waiting for the sky to open up, and takes us in. We
are no living dead. How can you live separate from your body?
That’s for fools and the mentally disturb. If god wanted us
in heaven he would have made us angels. Angels don't suffer, as
heaven does not accommodate such. Earth does though.
Lets tone down excitement a little a replace it with
quality thoughts. Thoughts that lead us to quality life ON
EARTH.
